Field & Control Security is a trigger-based security function. It can be used to enhance the Security Roles and Permissions provided by Navision, or in conjunction with any client-specific roles, permissions, and modifications.Versions Available: 3.7 and above.  (Above movie shows it in Version 3.7)

Field & Control Security gives security control to individual Navision objects, including tables, forms, buttons on forms, and even specific fields within a form.

In the example shown here the Bank Account Number is the only field desired to have security on.  When the user tries to change the Bank Account Number to something different the Yellow Warning Dialog Box Pops up on the screen.  Typically the administrator would come to the user’s screen, enter the Admin ID and Password to enable the change.  The user could also just hit Cancel.  An access attempt would be entered into the Log.

For another example, Navision will allow all employees access to the Sales Order form, but Field & Control Security will require managers permission to change the Unit Cost field, all using the same form.  Note: The user does not have to exit the form to get this done.

Field & Control Security allows a variety of security responses.
1. Just allow or deny access based on user login code.
2. Dialog Box, Allow access if authorized login is entered with password.
3. Dialog Box, Allow or deny access, and log login codes.
4. Dialog Box, Allow or deny access, log login codes and edited field values.
5. Each type of response can be specific to the secured area.

Benefits:

1.  Higher Levels of data protection.
2.  Log entries of who, what, when changes were made.
3.  Different Managers can control different fields.
